Apps for Mac
Small tools I wanted, free to use.
When a tool doesn’t fit the way I work, I build one that does. These are the Mac apps that came out of that. Each one does one job, keeps your data on your Mac, and is free and open source.

macOS 15 or later
Pane
A screen recorder for how-to videos that never leaves your Mac.
Pane records your screen with your camera in a corner, then adds pointer highlights, click sounds, zoom and captions at export, so you can change them after you record. Everything runs on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded.

macOS 15 or later
Switchboard
The Mac settings you flip all day, one click away in the menu bar.
Switchboard is a menu bar panel of quick toggles for Dark Mode, Night Shift, the Dock, hidden files, mute, Bluetooth, Keep Awake and more, each showing what your Mac is really set to right now. Plus a Pomodoro timer and CPU and GPU meters.

macOS 14.2 or later
SoloVolume
A real volume control for your Focusrite Scarlett Solo.
SoloVolume gives a Focusrite Scarlett Solo, or any output macOS gives no volume control, a working menu bar volume slider, mute and keyboard volume keys, without installing an audio driver.
